Mølleå Valley, the offspring of danish industri. Walk and run from Brede to Strandmøllen at Øresund

Winter at Mølleå Valley. 15 km north of Copenhagen.

Mølleå Valley is a part of a 30 km long valley area with the river offspring in Bastrup Lake. Mølleå river runs through Furesøen, Lyngby sø through Brede, Ørholm, Nymølle, Stampen  and Strandmøllen where the river ends in Øresund.

The  fall of the river is 29 m, which allowed construction of  11 watermills from Brede to Strandmøllen since 1200. In the Viking- and Middleage for flour production and from 1600 industrial production of weapen, copper and tools for agricultural production.

Since 1700 came production of paper, garmets and kitchen equipments of copper, messing and steel. Around the water mills grew factories and houses for workers.

From mid 1800 turbines- and steammachine replaced the water energy.

400 years of industrial production here in Mølleå Valley is the offspring of the industrial revolution, which from 1900 spread to all parts of Denmark.

Walk and run in Mølleå Valley is excellent . You will find paths with signpost all over, which make it easy to guide yourself in the area.

The beauty, the fauna and the silence is magnificent.
