Excellent bike, walk and run from The New National Royal Theatre at Nyhavn via Amaliehaven, Amalienborg Castle, Michelangelo statue of David at west-indian storehouse, A.P.Moeller-Maersk Domicil, Gefion Fountain to Kastellet Rampart all along the Copenhagen Harbour Waterline.

The route at full length from The New Royal Theatre to Kastellet on top of all the ramparts and back again to the Theatre: 4,7 km.

Amalienborg Castle planned and build ef architect Nicolai Eigtved (1701-54) from 1750-54. In the centre of the surrounding 4 palaces is a esquestrian statue of king Frederik 5 (1746-66) made by Jacques Saly (1717-76) from 1754-71. The inspiration of  Amalienborg Square is from Paris: Place Dauphine, Place des Voges, Place Vendome and Place des Victoires. Even Place de la Concorde had been an inspiration with the origional plan of a esquestrian statue of king Ludvig 15 instead of the obelisk from Egypt. At left in the picture Schacks Palace (Christian 9 Palace), the home of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe 2. and Prince Henrik. At right Moltke Palace ( Christian 7 Palace). Between the two palaces C.F.Harsdorffs (1735-99) Kolonnade with 8 columns. Kolonnaden allows passing via “en løngang” between the two palaces. Primeminister of Great Britain 1940-45 and the leading strategic thinker of the Allied Military Forces under the 2. World War from 3. september to 15. august 1945 against Germany, Italy and Japan. The doors was founded 1966 and existed until 1973. Jim Morrison lived from 1943 until he died i Paris on july 3, 1971. The doors has been my favourite music band since the sixties. Gefion Fountain. Build of sculpture Anders Bundgaard (1864-1937) in 1897-99 and the fountain opened with water 1908. At right the english-anglican Sct. Gefion fountain at the entrance to Langelinie and neighbour to Kastellet.The sculpture on top of the fountain is based on an old nordic legend, how the goddess Gefion transformed her 4 sons to oxes and plowed a big area out of the swedish ground. Whats left today is the swedish lake Vaenern east of Gothenburg. Gefion carried this big territory to the sea Kattegat and on her travel with the 4 oxes to the end destination in Odense in Funen she lost the territory at the place, where Zealand is today. Kastellet with ramparts:

Monument ” For vore faldne i dansk og allieret tjeneste ” under 2. verdenskrig udført af Svend Lindhardt og afsløret den 5. maj 1960. Her markeres 65- årsdagen for Danmarks befrielse den 5. maj 1945 med en krans ved monumentets sokkel. Monumentet er placeret på Sjællands Ravelin, som er en “forsvarsø” med broadgang fra 2 sider. Kongeporten som fører ind til Kastellets indre anlæg ses i baggrunden og er hovedindgangen til det militære anlæg. Det er verdens ældste kaserne stadig i brug. Over Kongeporten er der en buste af Frederik den 3 med 1663 som årstal. Hele Citadellet Frederikshavn som kastellet oprindelig hed blev officielt indviet den 28. oktober 1664 og er Kastellets officielle fødselsdag. Foto: 5. maj 2010

Kastellet Fortress (1661-65) udført af den hollandske fæstningsingeniør Henrik Ruse (1624-79) på foanledning af Frederik den 3 ( 1609-70), konge af Danmark og Norge 1648-70. Sjællands ravelin med monumentet fra de faldne i 2. Verdenskrig er til venstre i billedet. Til højre ses dele af Kongeporten, som fører ind i det indre forsvarsanlæg med bl.a. kaserner, Kommandantbolig fra 1725 og Kastelkirken og Kastellets fængsel fra 1704. Toldboden, Customs Administration Building area at the Harbour Waterfront:

Toldboden, The customs area since King Christian 4 (1570-1648), king of Denmark and Norway 1588-1648 established a custom administration house here in 1622 at the old entrance to Copenhagen Harbour. From here you can take the small route boats to all destinations at Copenhagen and Christianshavn waterfront.Take your bike with you. Back in the picture you can see Holmen, The Copenhagen Naval Base since 1680. At left a museum ship, a fregat Peder Skram build in 1965 and open for the public. Vor Frelsers Kirke, Church of our Saviour, Christianshavn, Copenhagen.Build 1682 Lambert van Haven in style Baroque. On top of the  twisting tower spire: a 3 m tall figure  in gold of Jesus Christ as conqueror of the wold on top of a globe of gold as symbol ef the earth. The spire  build 1750 of Laurids de Thurah after inspiration of the Spire created of Borromini on Church of St. Ivo in Palazzo della Sapienza in Rome. There are 398 steps to the top and for 25 kr. you can ascent to the top, 90 m above Wonderful Copenhagen. Photo: 13. may 2009.

If you want a 7 km route, then pass through the northern gate ( The Norway Gate) of Kastellet to Langelinie Quay and The little Mermaid.

    Wordpress is easy to handle, with an excellent design and I have never had any troubles.
